Marlene K. Higley

POYNETTE – Marlene K. Higley, age 74, passed away on Sunday, October 29 at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison. 

Marlene was born on January 1, 1943 in Poynette, the daughter of Arthur and Lela (Longseth) Sorenson.  She graduated from Poynette High School.  She married Ray Higley on July 20, 1968.  Marlene had worked at Ray O Vac in Portage and had been an assistant manager at the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Portage.  

She is survived by her husband, Ray Higley, of Poynette; her children, Kelly (Bill) Palmer, of Poynette, Kevin (Susan) Twing, of Columbus, Heidi (Garry) Cross, of Brisbane, Australia, and Ben Higley (Russ Shaver), of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Alexandria Beth Nemeth, Mallory Kaye Palmer, Paige Marie Gaudet, and Logan Dennis Twing; her great-grandchilden, Jackson Daniel Gaudet and Riley Marie Gaudet; her sisters, Greta Koepp, and Arlene Benish, both of Poynette.  She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and many close friends.  Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Kristine, and her sister, Wanda Bell.

A Celebration of Life for Marlene will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Poynette American Legion Hall, 131 W. Washington St., in Poynette.  Inurnment will be private.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home (www.pmmfh.com) in Poynette is assisting the family.
